A sun-protective swim suit will lessen your child's exposure to harmful UV rays, covering more skin, and lessening the amount of skin where you'll need to apply sunscreen. Why not just cover-up with a T-shirt? The typical t-shirt has a UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor) of 7; Splashskins swimsuits are UPF 30 or greater, blocking 96-98% of the sun's damaging rays.
